Standard 10004:2018 ISO Design, planning and measuring customer satisfaction

ISO 10004:2018 has been developed to design, plan and implement the process of monitoring and measuring customer satisfaction. One of the key factors of organizational success is customer satisfaction with the organization and its products and services. Therefore, monitoring and measuring customer satisfaction is essential.

ISO 10004 provides guidance for defining and implementing customer satisfaction monitoring and evaluation processes. This standard applies to any organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it offers. The focus of this document is on customers outside the organization.

Customer satisfaction is determined by the gap between customer expectations and customer perceptions of a product or service, as delivered by the organization, and aspects of the organization itself. To achieve customer satisfaction, organizations must first understand customer expectations. These expectations may be explicit or implicit, or not fully articulated.

Customer expectations, as the organization understands them, are the basis of the products and services that are then planned and delivered.

The extent to which a product or service is provided and other aspects of the customer organization that are perceived to meet or exceed expectations determine customer satisfaction
