It all started almost 180 years ago with a spice factory. Today, Dohler is a manufacturer and producer of technology-based natural raw materials and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry on a global scale.

Early years; 1895-1838
1838; Technology began its brutal growth in the 19th century. In the same year that the first German steam locomotive was built, Lorenz Dohler founded the first Dohler company from a spice factory in Erfurt, Germany. Spice compounds were Dohler’s first product.
In 1892, Wilhelm Gamer ran the factory, which had grown to become a major industrial business. To this day, several generations of the Gomer family have run the company, and the company name remains the same as Dohler.
Growth and change; 1960-1895
In 1924, Leo Gomer took over the management of the factory and decided to expand it with the establishment of two new sites. Dohler became a brand-owned factory, where Pudding, Bacfin and Bachholz Dohler products were soon found in every home in Germany.
In 1948, Dohler became state-owned in East Germany as a leading food company, and the Gomer family moved west. Frankfurt and Badwildingen are the first places to relaunch the production line of flavors and baking agents for bakeries, confectioneries and the alcoholic beverage industry.
In 1952, a new production division was added to Dohler: the production of juice-based ingredients and flavorings for the growing carbonated beverage industry.
The factory moved to Darmstadt in 1957 and is still located there. About 70 employees with about 6 million liters of production per year! The Dohler product mix set quality standards for natural pulp drinks. More than 6 million liters of orange juice were produced annually.
Modernization and new markets; 1990-1960
In 1962, a modern factory of raw materials and flavors was built, which was an example of the technical standard of similar factories at that time. The factory used a punch knife to monitor the entire production process automatically until the sterile packages were filled for loading.
1973 Leo Gommer resigns. A young management team led by George Gamer and Dr. Jochen Klein took charge of the plant and introduced the company’s new strategy for innovation and development.
The 1979 acquisition of Lucca GmbH in Heilbronn marked a long-term partnership with a global player in the food industry.
In 1980, Dohler consolidated its position in Germany as one of the leading manufacturers of food and beverage products through its takeover of Olymparom Essenzen, Wallerstein. Olymparom Essenzen was one of Dohler’s new competitors at the time.
In 1982, Dohler took its first steps outside Germany, acquiring ownership of the first foreign production facility, the Citrusco N.V. Harvested in Belgium.
In 1987, Dohler agreed with a key player in the beverage industry for long-term cooperation in research, development and production.
In 1988, Dohler celebrated its 150th anniversary by inviting customers and staff to various events.
In 1990, Dohler, as a pioneer of new markets in Eastern Europe, opened its first branches in Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic. Today, the company is introduced in all of Eastern Europe and the Baltic states.
Internal Development 2000-1990
In 1992, the first Eastern European production facility for the production of flavors and extracts was established in Döhler Szilas, Budapest. As part of its globalization strategy, the Indian Dohler Flavors Branch was established at Madras to produce and market flavors in the Indian subcontinent.
Dohler acquired Euro-Citrus N.V. in 1995. At Oosterhout, as an international juice producer, it integrated and perfected its industry by focusing on juices, nectars and essential oils. This was a major milestone for Dohler in becoming one of the pioneers in the production of citrus fruits and non-native fruits in the centralized European juice market.
1996; And globalization continues! With the establishment of the Chinese Dohler production site in Jinan, Dohler expanded its services to Asian markets.
In 1997, Fischer-Döhler jointly invested in Sao Paulo, Brazil with one of the world’s leading producers of orange juice concentrate to produce ingredients and flavors in the South and Central American markets. Fischer-Döhler is now a subsidiary of DÖHLER AMERICA LATINA LTDA.
Global development; 2011-2000
In 2001, with the dominance of Dinter based in Neuenkirchen in the Altes Land region of Germany, Dohler guaranteed direct access to native fruits such as apples, pears and berries through this center. Today, Döhler Neuenkirchen feeds the world beverage industry with natural concentrates and flavorings for fruit juices, fruit pulps and juices.
In 2002, Döhler Oosterhout was expanded to become the Dohler Group’s largest production site.
The new Flavor, Technology and Innovation Center in Darmstadt also demonstrates the innovative power of the Dohler Group, which, with more than 30 companies and around 1,400 employees, is looking for a dynamic future in more than 60 countries.
In 2003, construction work Döhler India Private Ltd. In Pune, India began production.

In July 2007, Dohler acquired Jahncke with its production facilities in Poland and Ukraine. It was a major step towards reliable sources of raw materials and a significant presence in Eastern Europe. A new production center was also opened in Shanghai to serve the Asian and Chinese markets.
In 2008, another phase of development and expansion at one of the production sites in Oosterhout was completed.
In the same year, the Latin American branch of Dohler opened the Citrus Center in Limeira, Brazil.
In the same year, Limeira played an important role in the South American market as a new manufacturing center.
Production capacity also increased dramatically in Kozietuly, Poland.
In the same year she joined BONJUICE, a modern production and service company in the beverage and food industry in Schwalmtal, Germany.
In 2009, with the acquisition of Sanchuan Rizhao, the modern manufacturer of apple juice concentrate by Dohler, Rizhao became the second site of the Dohler Group in China.
In early 2009, a new production and distribution center was established in Dubai to provide services to customers in the Middle East.
The Dohler Group strengthened its operations in North America with the Döhler-Milne Aseptics branch in Washington.
In 2010, ALKO International B.V., a natural beverage specialist, became part of the Dohler Group.
In 2011, Dohler operated production facilities for grain and malt extracts in Neuss, Germany.
It took advantage of a new and modern taste as well as a new experimental center in Darmstadt, Germany.
In the same year, Dohler used a modern industrial unit in Karaman, Turkey, to produce juices, purees and colored concentrates.
